Troubleshooting โ€‹

Find your symptom. Most fixes take a minute.

  • Is it on the ground? *BUILD says TEST mode enabled when attached. Rez it.
  • Both scripts inside? *BUILD and *FUNCTIONS must be in Content.
  • Object description is !ignore? The scripts ignore the object. Clear it.
  • Scripts disabled on the parcel? Check the land settings or move to a sandbox.
  • Region issue? Try a different region; some regions block outgoing HTTP briefly after a restart.

Build fails or times out โ€‹

  • Could not connect to your object in Second Life: the HUD is attached, was taken to inventory, or is in another region. Rez the same object (the one connected to the project) and try again.
  • Your object in Second Life did not answer in time: the region was busy. Wait a moment and build again.
  • The panel session expired after a long idle time. Open the link from chat again (hold-click โ†’ EDIT if needed).
  • Very large project: wait; builds are sent in many packets. If it never completes, check the chat for a Stack-Heap Collision error and reduce the project (long messages are the usual cause).

Clicking a button does nothing โ€‹

  1. Did you Build after the last change?
  2. Does the function have actions? A button with an empty function does nothing.
  3. Does the prim name match the function name exactly? Re-scan after renaming.
  4. Is the prim's description !ignore? Clicks are ignored then.
  5. In UI Mode: is [add-on] - UI Buttons - 1Click in the HUD, and are you clicking the right face?
  6. Is the add-on the feature needs inside the object? Conditions and Timers do nothing without theirs and do not warn. See The Scripts.
  7. Is there an old action below a condition? It runs on every click and can undo what the branch did (Conditions).
  8. Not sure? Open Clicky and ask "why does btn1 do nothing?". It reads your project and checks it for you.

A demo HUD does nothing โ€‹

The HUD has Demo Mode on. Check, in this order:

  1. The item's name. It needs DEMO or DEMONSTRATION as a word on its own: Dress DEMO and Dress (DEMO) work, DressDEMO does not. If local chat says "This HUD is a demo and only works on items with DEMO in the name", this is it: rename the item. No scan or Build needed.
  2. The item's scripts. An item with *TARGETS older than 1.2.4 ignores a demo HUD with no message at all. Replace the scripts in the item.
  3. The HUD works on everything, as if it were not a demo. The HUD's *BUILD or *FUNCTIONS is older than 1.2.4, or you did not Build after turning Demo on. Update both scripts together, then Build.

The HUD changes itself instead of the item โ€‹

Scripts and panel before 1.2.4 sent an action to the HUD itself when its target was no longer in the Targets list (typically after scanning with the original item in inventory while preparing a demo). With 1.2.4 the action is skipped instead, and Build warns "N actions point to a target that is no longer in your Targets list":

  1. Open Targets โ†’ Bulk edit.
  2. Pick the target marked not found in the last scan, or Missing target (N actions), as the current target, and the right item as the new one.
  3. Save and Build.

For demos, Demo Mode avoids the target swap altogether.

The action runs but nothing changes on the target โ€‹

  • The action says No target on its card. Open it and choose the target.
  • The target was re-created with NEW and has a new channel. Scan targets and Bulk Edit old โ†’ new.
  • The target is in another region, or belongs to someone else (a copy you gave away).
  • Link names in the action do not exist in the target (renamed parts). Open the action and pick them again.
  • For PBR actions: PBR Manager missing in the target.
  • For Resizer: the add-on must be in the target, not the HUD.

The texture changed on the wrong part โ€‹

  • Two prims share a name, or the link name you picked is used by several parts. Rename in-world, re-scan, fix the action.
  • After linking a new part into the item (PBR or Resize): scripts before 1.2.4 kept PBR and Resize data by link number, which changes when you link. Replace PBR Manager and Resizer with the 1.2.4 versions, then re-apply the PBR buttons once.
  • The action uses All links: a newly linked part is part of all links too. Pick the parts by name if the new part should stay out.

Textures show in the panel but not in-world โ€‹

  • The texture is no-copy or not in Content anymore. The UUID is still valid if the texture exists in the grid; otherwise re-add it and scan.
  • Viewer cache: right-click โ†’ Refresh textures, or relog.

PBR looks wrong or disappears โ€‹

  • Update to the latest scripts (1.2.2 rebuilt the PBR Manager). Turn PBR ON before replacing the scripts.
  • PBR Manager must be inside each target that receives PBR actions.
  • Your viewer must support PBR (Second Life viewer 7+, Firestorm 7+).

Animations do not play โ€‹

  • The animation must be inside the object that runs the action.
  • Permission: on the ground the viewer asks; if you clicked Deny, re-attach or re-rez.
  • Another AO or a furniture pose has higher priority.
  • Name typed by hand: it must match the inventory name exactly.

Events never fire โ€‹

  • [add-on] - Events - 1Click must be inside the object.
  • Movement and water events only work while the object is attached.
  • The event has no actions.
  • You are testing on the object on the ground; wear a copy.

Conditions always take the same branch โ€‹

  • Missing $ or ! prefix; case mismatch (ON vs on); comparing a string with a number.
  • A Change Variable immediately followed by a condition on the same variable: add a 0.1 s Timer in between.
  • The Conditions & Variables add-on is missing.
  • The scripts were reset in a HUD with Conditions & Variables older than 1.2.4: variables are lost until the next Build. Replace the add-on with the 1.2.4 version.
  • The button still has an old action below the condition that undoes the branch.

Clicky โ€‹

  • "Your Clicky usage is used up": the usage bar at the bottom of the chat is empty. It does not refill by itself: if you have a saved recharge, click Use saved recharge at the bottom of the chat; if not, Clicky answers again after a recharge. See Usage and recharges.
  • Clicky still does something that was fixed: press Ctrl+F5 to reload the panel.
  • It answered in the wrong language: tell it so, or ask "answer in Portuguese" (in any language). Clicky keeps that language for the rest of the chat.

"Memory limit" when saving โ€‹

The project exceeds your plan. Delete unused functions and events, shorten messages, use helper functions, or upgrade to PRO. See Memory.

The panel shows an old version of the project โ€‹

Your browser cached the page. Press Ctrl+F5. If zoom in UI Mode misbehaves after an update, the same fix applies.

I finished the project and now want to change it โ€‹

Drag *BUILD back into the object, hold-click it, choose EDIT. See Reopen a Project.

Errors in chat when someone sits on my item โ€‹

Chairs, poseballs and any furniture people sit on: if you see llGetPrimitiveParams error ... cannot be used for avatars or llGetPrimitiveParams error: Param 0 error, texture info cannot be accessed for avatars the moment someone sits, update to the 1.2.4 scripts. Until 1.2.2 a seated avatar was treated as one more part of the object, which also made the person show up in the panel's buttons and target parts lists. Get a redelivery and replace the scripts; nothing in your project changes.

Still stuck? โ€‹

Message Prootoxy Resident in Second Life with: what you expected, what happened, the chat output of the HUD, and (if possible) the project link. The Feedback button in the panel also reaches us.
