Coming from CasperVend

Moving to Fasty does not mean starting from zero. The Import from Casper assistant brings your sales history, your customers, your prices, images and profit splits, and your customers' gift cards. You go at your own pace: you can stop at any time and everything is saved. Casper keeps selling until you swap your vendors at the very end.

Open it from Sales → Import from Casper (Home also shows a Coming from Casper? card while you have not used it).

Import from Casper: seven steps, each one saved as you go.
Import from Casper: seven steps, each one saved as you go.

The steps

1. Your sales file

This is your history. With it, your past customers can ask for redeliveries through Fasty, and your stats include your past sales.

  1. On the CasperVend website, open Statistics.

  2. In From, choose the month of your first sale. In to, choose this month.

  3. Click Download: CSV, then drop the file in the assistant.

Fasty shows how many sales and customers it found, and what it left out on purpose: your own test purchases, purchases that failed on Casper, CasperUpdate deliveries (those are not sales) and broken or repeated lines.

Big store?

Download one year at a time and upload the files one after the other. Uploading the same sales twice never duplicates them, so later you can upload a newer file to add only what you sold since.

Imported sales are history only: they don't deliver anything, don't give points and don't pay profit shares. They are there so your customers can redeliver and your reports are complete.

2. Put the hub in your DropBox

Your Casper DropBox already holds all your items. Drop the Fasty Hub script into it (you don't need to remove Casper's script) and Fasty learns every item at once. The assistant follows it live.

3. Check your products

Each product in your sales file is matched with an item in the hub. Same name, or the same item with a different version number: matched on its own, so the sales of old versions land on today's product (and can be redelivered with the current version). Similar name: Fasty suggests it and you confirm. The rest you pick yourself, or leave out. Your choices are remembered for the next files.

4. Import

Press Import. It runs in the background, in batches, and you can leave the page. If you change your mind, Undo the import removes the imported sales again (except the ones a customer already asked to redeliver).

5. Prices, images and profit splits

The assistant shows a link to your product list on CasperVend. Open it (signed in to Casper), select everything (Ctrl+A), copy (Ctrl+C) and paste it in the assistant.

Only the product names, items, prices, images and profit splits are read. Everything else in that list (bot passwords, update keys) never leaves your computer.

Before anything changes, you see a preview: each product with its price from → to, its image and its split. Choose what to bring (prices, images, splits) and apply. Images only fill products that have none, unless you ask to replace them. Undo puts every product back as it was.

6. Your customers' gift cards

If you sold gift cards on Casper, your customers keep their balance on Fasty.

Block the cards on Casper first

The cards keep working on Casper until you block them there. If you don't block them, a customer could spend the same balance twice, and you would pay for it. The assistant walks you through it:

  1. Block each card type on Casper ("Blocked").
  2. After blocking, copy the lists of cards from Casper and paste them in the assistant, so the balances are the final ones.
  3. Press Import: I already blocked them on Casper.

Casper only keeps the name of each card owner. Fasty finds the owners among your customers first, then looks up the rest in Second Life on its own. For anyone it cannot find, you type their username. Every card with an owner becomes a Fasty gift card with the same balance, valid in your whole store, with no expiry date.

7. Replace your vendors

Your Casper vendors stay the same objects, with the same look. Only the script changes:

  1. Drag the Fasty Vendor script into each Casper vendor (Edit → Content).

  2. The Casper script deletes itself right away, and you get a notice in chat. The look, textures and position stay the same.

  3. Accept the debit permission request. Then the vendor connects to your store on its own.

  4. Fasty tries to pick the product from the vendor's name. Anything it does not recognise, choose in Vendors.

From that moment, new sales come into Fasty. Check Sales, Gift cards and Vendors to see everything that came in.

Used CasperVend's group discount?

It works the same way here: keep your vendors set to your group and turn on Group discount on the products (or once on each variation group). See SL Group Discount. Store-wide sales are in More → Discounts.
