Variation Groups
Many products come in variations: eight colours of the same horn, plus a fatpack with all of them. Without groups you would change nine prices by hand. With a group you change one.
What a group does
A group keeps defaults for its items:
| Default | Example |
|---|---|
| Price of each variant | L$ 100 |
| Price of the fatpack | L$ 650 |
| Price of the demo | free |
| Category | Fashion |
| Revenue split and points | apply to every item |
| Group discount | 10% for members wearing your SL group tag |
| Cover picture | shown on the vendors of items without a picture of their own |
Every item follows the group, unless you customize it. A customized item keeps its own price or name and shows custom in the panel; back to group makes it follow the group again.
An example
| Item in the hub | In the group | Type | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
[Hi Enjoy!] Minotaur Horn - Black | Minotaur Horn · Black | Variant | L$ 100 (from group) |
[Hi Enjoy!] Minotaur Horn - Gold | Minotaur Horn · Gold | Variant | L$ 100 (from group) |
[Hi Enjoy!] Minotaur Horn - Rainbow | Minotaur Horn · Rainbow | Variant | L$ 120 (custom) |
[Hi Enjoy!] Minotaur Horn - FATPACK | Minotaur Horn · Fatpack | Fatpack | L$ 650 (from group) |
The panel even tells you how good the fatpack deal is: "8 × variant = L$ 800 → 19% off".
Groups are made for you
Every time your hub syncs, Fasty reads the item names and puts the variations of one product in a group on its own. It understands the usual ways creators name things:
| Items in the hub | Group | Variants |
|---|---|---|
Minotaur Horn - Black, Minotaur Horn - Gold, Minotaur Horn - FATPACK | Minotaur Horn | Black, Gold, Fatpack |
Ayla Skin Coffe td, Ayla Skin Mocha td, Ayla Skin td [FATPACK] | Ayla Skin td | Coffe, Mocha, Fatpack |
The colour can be at the end or in the middle of the name. A word that says what the product is (shape, hair, lipstick, pants…) is never taken as a colour, so Chloe Skin td SHAPE stays apart from the Chloe skins. Versions of one item (My HUD [v1.2.2], My HUD [v1.2.4]) are not variations: they are the same product.
A new group starts with the price most of its items already have. Give it its prices whenever you like.
Nothing you already sell changes
An item that is already on sale joins its group keeping its price, name, category, points and group discount (it shows as custom where it differs from the group). It does not join on its own a group that is paused, part of a discount, coupon or gift card, or that has a revenue split it doesn't have: those stay as a suggestion for you to decide.
Grouping by hand
When Fasty is not sure, the Products screen shows a card like "Found 3 products with variants".
Press Review on the suggestion (or select products in the List view and choose to group them).
Check the group name, the items in it and the type of each one: Variant, Fatpack or Demo. Give each variant its label (for example Yellow).
Set the default prices and press Create group.
Ignore on a suggestion, or taking an item out of a group, means Fasty never groups that item on its own again.
New colours join on their own
The group remembers how its items are named. A new item in the hub that follows the same pattern joins the group automatically, with the group's price. (If the names are too different, the panel says new items will not join on their own.)
Limited quantity for a group
A group can be a limited edition too: 50 of each colour, or 100 in total for every colour. See Limited Quantity.
Pausing and ungrouping
- Pause the group stops every vendor of every item in the group.
- Ungroup turns the items back into standalone products. Each one keeps its current price and name.
Demos
A demo in a group with a price of L$ 0 is a free product on its own, no need to mark it: its vendor shows Get Free and anyone who touches it gets the demo, with a receipt.
Vendors and groups
On the Vendors screen, the By product view groups vendors by variation group and shows the coverage: for example "6 of 8 variants on vendors · missing Gold, Rainbow". Great for spotting the colour you forgot to put out.
