Gifts BASIC
Any customer can buy a product for someone else, right at the vendor. Free on every plan, no setup needed.
How a customer sends a gift
Touch the vendor → Gift.
Type the username of the person who gets it, like
prootoxy(the login, not the display name). The vendor checks that the avatar exists before anyone pays. A wrong name is refused right away. The vendor is reserved for 60 seconds for that customer. The floating text shows the countdown: Reserved for a buyer · 42s.
Right-click → Pay within those 60 seconds. The vendor says: "Thank you for your purchase! (product) is on its way to (name).", with the receipt link.
While a gift is reserved
Only one gift at a time per vendor. Another customer who touches it during the reservation reads "Someone else is buying here right now. Please try again in a minute." They can still buy for themselves with Pay: that is a normal purchase for them.
Delivery only while the recipient is online
Second Life can lose items given to someone who is offline (their offline inventory may be full). So the hub asks Second Life whether the recipient is online first:
- Online: the gift is delivered right away.
- Offline: Fasty waits and tries again every 5 minutes. The receipt shows "Waiting to be online". As soon as they log in, it arrives.
After 24 hours without them logging in, Fasty sends it anyway: Second Life keeps the offer and they get it when they come back. You never have to chase it.
In the panel
- Gift sales show gift for (name) in Sales. The Gifts filter shows only gifts.
- The sale's receipt has Bought (the buyer) and Received (the recipient), both linking to their customer pages.
- Points go to the person who paid, not to the recipient.
- A customer page counts gifts sent and received.
- The purchase IM says who the gift was for.
Giving a product yourself?
The Gift menu is for customers who pay. To give a product to someone for free, use Send to someone on the product sheet.
