SL Group Discount BASIC

Customers wearing your Second Life group tag pay less, like in CasperVend. You set a percentage, Fasty works out the group price, and the vendor shows both amounts on Pay.

Turn it on

Open a product and switch on Group discount, then choose the percentage. The sheet shows the result right away: "With the group tag active, they pay L$ 85 instead of L$ 100 (15%, rounded up)."

WhereWhat it does
A productIts own discount. 0% turns it off for that product only.
A variation groupApplies to every variation that has no discount of its own. A variation with its own value shows Back to the group's (N%) to follow the group again.
A payment request PROMembers pay less for the event or membership too.

The group price always rounds up and is never below L$ 1. If the discount rounds to the same price (a very cheap product), there is no group price.

Which group counts

Second Life only lets a script see the group tag the buyer is wearing right now, so the vendor compares that tag with a group. Choose which one in Settings → Store → Group for the group discount:

Settings → Store: each vendor's group, or one store group.
Settings → Store: each vendor's group, or one store group.
  • Each vendor's group (like CasperVend): the group the vendor object is set to (Edit → General → Group). A vendor without a group gives no discount.
  • The store group: paste your group's UUID or its secondlife:///app/group/… link. Only vendors set to that group give the discount.

Selling in a mall?

Mall vendors usually have to be set to the land's group. Choose your store group in Settings: vendors in the mall group simply won't give the discount, and your own store keeps it.

Groups you used before and groups your vendors are set to show up as shortcuts, with their names, so you rarely paste anything twice.

What the customer sees

  • Pay shows two amounts: the normal price and the group price.
  • The menu adds a line: "Wearing the store group tag? Pay L$ 85."
  • Someone who pays the group price without the tag gets the L$ back on the spot: "This price is for the store group. Wear the group tag and pay again. Your L$85 was refunded." That sale never happens, so it doesn't show up anywhere.
  • A member who pays the normal price pays the normal price: there are two buttons and they choose.

Changed the vendor object's group in Second Life? The vendor notices on its own and updates Pay in a few seconds.

With the other discounts

  • A sale changes the price, and the group discount comes off the sale price: L$ 100, 20% sale, 10% group → L$ 72 for members.
  • Coupons and gift cards don't add up with the group price: while a coupon or gift card reservation is open, Pay shows only what's left.

In Sales and on receipts

The sale shows group −L$ 15 under the payment, with the full price struck through, and the customer's receipt shows a Group discount line. Fasty recognises the group price by the amount paid, also on sales that went straight to a hub while the server was away.

The group discount needs the current Fasty Vendor script. Older vendor scripts keep selling at the normal price.
